What is MapThatPad?

MapThatPad came about from our need to better organize apartments that we found during our last apartment hunt. Tired of working with excel sheets, we thought the ideal tool would be a map. That's how this site was born. MapThatPad is essentially an organizational tool that allows anyone to save listings found online with the click of a button. You can also add notes and organize in any way you like.

How it works?

Add the MapThatPad bookmarklet to your browser here, and click on it when you see an apartment listing you like on Craigslist, New York Times, StreetEasy, Oodle or UrbanEdge. We will save your listing so you can come back to it later. Create a map of all the apartment listings you find, and use it to organize your apartment hunt.

What does it do?

MapThatPad also provides additional features to help you manage your apartment hunt and make it as effortless as possible.

  • Collaborate on your apartment hunt: Looking for apartments with a friend or group of friends? Use MapThatPad to stay organized and have all your prospective apartments in one place. Everyone can view and save apartments on the same map, and make comments
  • Comment on each apartment: Write your thoughts on each apartment and save them so you can come back and review them later.
  • Share your apartment list: Send a link of your map to a friend or roommate so they can see what you've found and what your comments are. You can also share your map on Facebook and have your friends send you suggestion and tips to help you out while you hunt.
  • Contact listings: Quickly send an email to each listing you have saved with two clicks of a button. Also you can contact ALL saved listings with a click of a button. This is the easiest way to contact all listings you are interested in.
  • Mobile Acccess: Have a smart phone? You can access all your saved listings and notes on the go with MapThatPad Mobile - including your map whats around each apartment!
  • Email/Print your apartments: Email a list of your apartments (and their details) to anybody including yourself. Very useful when on the road checking out apartments and you want to have you list handy.
  • Organize your apartment list: Easily identify the apartments you like, have visited or even seen. Also remove apartments from your map with one click. Also add your appointments very easily for each listing and have it sent automatically to your Google Calendar.
  • Looking in NYC or SF?: MapThatPad automatically finds the closest subway stations or MUNI stops to each listing along with the subway/bus lines and distances in miles. Because we know how crucial that is when searching for apartments in the city.

But often times, the exact address is not listed on craigslist!

No worries! We try to get what we can from the listing. If the address is not provided, we will put the apartment in the correct neighborhood and then you can move the marker around (just click and drag) once you determine the exact address (after speaking to the owner/broker or visiting the place). MapThatPad will also re-calculate the necessary information such as adddress, neighborhood and subway info (if in NYC). You can also type in the address right on the listing if that is more convenient!
